Let’s look inside the Robot Box! 

These robot-themed activities for preschoolers are the perfect mix of memorable crafts your child can complete now and games to create and play again and again. And there is no doubt that the quality of each item can withstand excited little hands.

BEGINNING SOUNDS ‘BOTS

Using the provided game mat, Beginning Sound ‘Bots introduces and reinforces letter identification and phonemic awareness, which is a good predictor of later reading success or difficulty. Starting by naming the icons on the mat was a great way to build my child’s confidence before discussing the letters on the chips and the sounds they make. Once the game was underway, we were provided with multiple opportunities to get excited about the letter that was selected and repeat the sound it made. Each correct match was a victory for both of us. 

Skills practiced: letter identification, beginning sounds, phonemic awareness, and vocabulary

Materials:

• Beginning Sounds ‘Bots game mat
• Robot chips
• Letter labels
• Small container or cup (not included)

Instructions:

Step 1 Help your child adhere the letter labels to the robot chips. 

Step 2 Decide whether you want to play with the capital or lowercase letters; set the others aside.

Step 3 Read all the picture icons on the game mat. Ask your child to name each picture or have them repeat after you.

Step 4 Place all of the letter chips into a small container and shake. Have your child close their eyes and select one chip.

Step 5 Help your child name the letter and identify the sound the letter makes.Example: “Oh! You picked a D! A D says /d/ /d/ /d/. Let’s see which robot has a picture that starts with /d/ /d/ /d/!” **. 

Step 6 Match the chip to the correct beginning sound picture and place the letter chip on the robot’s belly. Example: “Let’s see, does h-h-hat start with the /d/ sound? No. Hmm. Does d-d-dog with start the /d/ sound? Yes! Let’s put the D chip on the d-d-dog!” 

** This activity is primarily focusing on the letters’ sounds. The /forward slashes/ with a sound inside indicate the sound the letter makes. Example: The letter D’s is pronounced “dee,” but focus instead on the sound the D makes. The /d/ sound is similar to “duh”.

Keep the fun going: After going through all of the chips, encourage your child to find items around your home that begin with the same sound as the pictures on the board.  

BUILD A ROBOT

Who wouldn’t want to build a robot?! Model Magic is an ideal material for preschool-age children because it is easy to manipulate and use repeatedly without losing its functionality. Labeling and creating the shapes multiple times reinforced the effectiveness of this craft. This was one of our favorites from the robot-theme box and we ended up combining the shapes and materials to create robots beyond what was provided on the cards. 

Skills practiced: following directions, shape recognition, sensory engagement

Materials:

• Build a Robot cards
• Model Magic
• Pony beads
• Gems
• Paper clips
• Googly eyes
• Pipe cleaners
• Metallic chains
• Glitter squares
• Gears

Instructions:

Step 1 Select the robot your child wants to build from the Build a Robot cards.

Step 2 Use the Model Magic to mold the clay shapes indicated on the card and assemble them to replicate the robot. 

Step 3 Add on the gears, eyes, and additional accessories to complete the robot! 

FLYING ROBOT STEM CRAFT 

Painting the robot, applying the glue, adhering the pieces, and threading the fishing line were wonderful fine motor precursors to the STEM focus of this preschool activity. Constructing the robot and talking about why the pieces were being put together in a specific way added to the satisfaction of watching the robot soar. Playing around with the speed and distance in which the fishing line was pulled apart provided multiple ways to reinforce the engineering applications being discovered.

Skills practiced: fine motor skills, critical thinking skills, creativity

Materials:

• Robot
• Robot head
• Fishing line
• Straw
• Silver metallic paint
• 2 pony beads
• Paintbrush
• Tape (not included)
• Scissors (not included)
• Glue (not included)

Instructions:

Step 1 Paint your robot as desired. Let dry. Glue the robot head onto its body. 

Step 2 Cut two 1-inch pieces off the straw. Tape them onto the back of your robot as shown. 

Step 3 Thread either end of the fishing line through the straw pieces. 

Step 4 Tie a pony bead onto each end of the fishing line. 

Step 5 Hang the robot from a doorknob. 

Step 6 Pull the two beads apart and watch the robot fly!

FUEL YOUR ROBOT

Memory games are a fan-favorite in our house so it was no surprise that Fuel Your Robot was played multiple times in one sitting. The vibrant colors of the robot chips and boxes were instantly attractive to my preschooler who couldn’t wait to get started. Although finding a match was the goal of the game, recognizing and naming each letter was almost just as exciting for my child as feeding the robot.

Skills practiced: fine motor skills, memory development, uppercase and lowercase letter matching, dramatic play, taking turns

Materials:

• Robot boxes
• Robot chips with letter labels adhered
• Scissors (not included)

Instructions:

Step 1 An adult should cut out the robot’s mouth. 

Step 2 Help your child set up the robot box. Show your child where the mouth is and say something like: “The robot needs fuel to energize him and it is your job to feed him the matching letters!”

Step 3 Place the nine uppercase letters face down in three rows of three and the nine lowercase letters face down in three rows of three. 

Step 4 Explain to your child that this is a memory match game. On each person’s turn, flip one lowercase and one uppercase chip over, keeping them in their place. Name each letter that is flipped over, even if it isn’t a match.

Step 5 When someone finds a match, feed the chips to the robot to give him energy. 

Step 6 Once the robot has been fed all of the chips, it is full of energy and ready to be active. Have a robot dance party or play follow-the-robot-leader around the room! 

ROBOT MAGNET CRAFT

Having a craft that showcases their skills to make a recognizable item from individual pieces will leave any preschooler beaming with pride. We utilized the time spent creating the robot to discuss the next steps and locate the necessary pieces before moving forward. Once the robot was assembled, my preschooler named him (Robo the Robot), had him do some robot dances, and proudly hung him on the fridge. Each time someone new noticed Robo it was an opportunity to discuss the steps needed to create it. 

Skills practiced: following directions, fine motor skills, creativity, imaginative play

Materials:

• Black robot frame
• Robot body
• 2 robot hands
• 2 robot feet
• 2 adhesive robot eyes
• Adhesive magnet
• Glue (not included)

Instructions:

Step 1 Glue the robot’s head onto its frame.

Step 2 Glue the robot’s hands and feet onto its frame.

Step 3 Adhere the robot’s eyes to its face and the magnet to the back.

ROBOT RACE TO 10

Practicing following directions and taking turns is a refresher that kids of any age (and honestly, most adults) can benefit from, so this game was an automatic A+ for me. Then add in the prereading and counting skills, and we were firing on all cylinders. The key to the success of this game was in the repetition. With each passing round, recognizing the numbers and counting the images on the card became easier and faster. Eventually, it was clear—and exciting—to watch subitizing take place, the ability to recognize the number of objects without actually having to count them. 

Skills practiced: pre-reading skills, following directions, counting, subitizing, dramatic play, taking turns. 

Materials:

• Gears
• Robot Race to 10 game mats
• Robot Race to 10 cards

Instructions:

Step 1 Each player selects a game mat and 10 gears. Shuffle the cards and place them face-down.  

Step 2 On your turn, select a card and place the corresponding number of gears on your game mat. 

Step 3 Fill the robot’s squares moving left to right and top to bottom, the same direction in which we read. 

Step 4 The first player to fill up their robot with 10 gears wins that round. 

Step 5 The first player to win 5 rounds wins the game!

What's inside The Garden Box?

Activities for Learning Math

1 Vegetable Count & Cover

• Materials: Vegetable Count & Cover game mat, vegetable mini erasers, bingo chips, a sheet of paper
  
• Game mechanics: In this game, an adult hides a few vegetable mini erasers under a sheet of paper while the child closes their eyes. Starting with two erasers, the child then opens their eyes, and the adult briefly reveals the hidden erasers before covering them again. The child guesses the number of erasers and, if correct, covers the corresponding number on a game mat with a bingo chip. This process repeats with varying quantities, encouraging the child to recognize numbers quickly. For smaller numbers (1-5), the child practices subitizing by identifying the amount at a glance, while for larger numbers (6-10), the erasers are arranged in groups to help with counting. The game adapts to the child's skill level, aiming to improve their number sense without causing frustration.
• About the game: The Vegetable Count & Cover game can help kids learn and develop important math skills, including counting, subitizing (recognizing small quantities without counting), and numeral recognition. Kids can improve their number sense by quickly identifying and counting hidden vegetable erasers in the game and matching them to numerals on a game mat. This process enhances their ability to recognize quantities at a glance and strengthens their understanding of numbers.

2 Spin It & Plant It

• Materials: Spin It & Plant It game mat, spinner arrow, spinner base, vegetable mini erasers
• Game mechanics: To start the game, you have to set up the spinner first on the game mat. Kids take turns spinning the spinner and identifying the number it lands on. They then count and "plant" that many vegetable erasers in dirt piles on the game mat, filling them from left to right and top to bottom. After planting, they remove the erasers and repeat the process, representing different numbers on the tens frame.
• About the game: In the game Spin It & Plant It, kids will learn numeral recognition, counting, and how to use a tens frame. By spinning the spinner, identifying numbers, and counting and planting vegetable erasers on a tens frame, children develop number sense by seeing numbers in relation to groups of 5 and 10. This familiarity with tens frames will ease their transition into Kindergarten, where these tools are commonly used. The game enhances their counting skills and helps them understand numerical concepts

3 Planting Patterns

• Materials: Planting Patterns cards, vegetable mini erasers
  
• Game mechanics: In this pattern recognition game, kids select a Planting Patterns card first and adults help point to each vegetable while naming the vegetables. You can use a sing-song voice, alternating pitches for each type for more fun and easier recognition for kids. Pause at the empty spot to let your child identify the next vegetable in the sequence. If needed, provide the answer and explain the pattern. The child then places the correct vegetable eraser in the empty spot to complete the pattern. Start with the blue background for simpler patterns and move to the yellow background for more challenging ones.
• About the game: This cute and simple garden-themed activity will allow your preschooler to practice their math and language skills all while having fun! At the same time, kids will develop important skills such as identifying patterns, sequencing, and critical thinking. By recognizing and completing vegetable patterns, they enhance their ability to predict what comes next in a sequence. The game also helps with memory, attention to detail, and understanding the concept of patterns, which are foundational skills for math and reading.

Literacy Activities

1 Get to the Greenhouse Game

• Materials: Get to the Greenhouse game mat, game cards (also used in Garden Bingo), 2 different vegetable mini erasers for player pieces
• Game mechanics:  The goal of this game is to be the first to help the boy bring the plants to the greenhouse! Players start by placing their pieces on "start." The youngest player first draws a card, names the word on it, and then breaks it into syllables. They clap for each syllable and move their piece forward one space per syllable. If a player lands on a red space, they must follow the trail back as indicated. The first player to reach the greenhouse wins!
• About the game: Get to the Greenhouse Game helps kids develop crucial language and cognitive skills. They learn to segment words into syllables, enhancing their phonological awareness. They practice counting and reinforce their understanding of syllable segmentation by clapping for each syllable and moving their piece accordingly. Additionally, taking turns helps improve social skills such as patience and fairness. The game provides an engaging way for children to build vocabulary, phonemic awareness, and turn-taking abilities.

2 Garden Bingo

• Materials: Garden Bingo player cards, Garden game cards (also used in the Get to the Greenhouse Game), bingo chips
• Game mechanics: Who doesn’t love bingo? In Garden Bingo game, each player chooses a player card. Shuffle the game cards and place them face down. Next, draw a card and identify the beginning sound of the word pictured. Then, determine the corresponding letter that makes that sound. If you have the matching letter on your player card, cover it with a bingo chip. The first player to fill their game board wins! Alternatively, players can aim to get three in a row to win. It's a fun way for kids to practice letter sounds and letter recognition while learning to play a classic game of bingo.
• About the game: The Garden Bingo game allows kids to practice identifying the beginning sounds of words and matching them to the corresponding letters, enhancing their phonemic awareness and letter recognition. By covering matching letters on their player cards, children reinforce their understanding of letter-sound correspondence. This game provides a fun and engaging way for kids to build their vocabulary, phonics skills, and letter knowledge.

Fun and Easy Pet-themed Activities for Preschoolers

1 Pet Rock Craft

Materials: Smooth rocks, paint, googly eyes, glue, markers

Activity: Collect smooth rocks from the yard or a park. Wash and dry them, then paint the rocks to make them look like different pets (dogs, cats, fish, etc.)! Add googly eyes or use markers to draw details. Kids can create a whole collection of pet rocks to play with or display.

2 DIY Pet Treats

Materials: Simple ingredients like peanut butter, oats, and flour depending on the recipe. Be sure to check for any allergies or pet dietary restrictions!

Activity: Make homemade pet treats for your family pet or to give to a friend’s pet. Look up easy recipes online, like these peanut butter dog biscuits or tuna cat treats. Kids can help mix the ingredients, cut out shapes, and bake the treats. This activity is a fun way to spend time together and show love to your pet.

3 Pet-Themed Storytime and Puppet Show

Materials: Pet-themed books, socks, felt, markers, glue

Activity: Read pet-themed books together as a family (you can use our book recommendations above!). Afterward, create simple puppets using socks or paper bags decorated with felt, markers, and other craft supplies to look like different pets. Use the puppets to put on a pet-themed puppet show, acting out the stories or creating new adventures.

4 Create a Pet Obstacle Course

Materials: Household items like chairs, pillows, boxes, hula hoops, poles, etc.

• Materials: Valentine Candy Count game mat, Valentine Candy Count cards, foam “candy” hearts
• Game mechanics: To start the game, kids select a Valentine Candy Count card and count the pieces of candy shown. Then, they fill their candy box on the game mat with the same number of candies, arranging them from left to right and top to bottom. As children progress, they can develop the ability to recognize quantities without counting, starting with smaller numbers like 2 or 3. You can help them by pointing out patterns in how the candies are arranged, such as recognizing that 6 candies can be seen as 3 and 3 or as one row of 5 with 1 more on the tens frame game mat.
• About the game: The Valentine Candy Count helps kids practice counting and subitizing, which is recognizing quantities without counting. They learn to fill their candy box on the game mat with the correct number of candies, honing their counting skills. Moreover, they develop the ability to recognize patterns and structures in the arrangement of candies, which helps them understand the concept of a tens frame. This helps them visualize numbers and quantities more efficiently.

2 I Love Measuring

• Materials: I Love Measuring game mat, I Love Measuring recording sheet, foam “candy“ hearts, pencil
• Game mechanics: In this game, players use foam candy hearts to measure the length of objects by lining them up along a printed line on the game mat. They count the hearts used to measure each object and write down the corresponding number next to the object's picture on a recording sheet. This process is repeated for all objects. Finally, players follow the directions on the recording sheet to analyze the collected data.
• About the game: The I Love Measuring game assists in developing preschoolers’ measurement skills by using foam candy hearts to measure the length of objects. They practice counting as they determine how many hearts are needed to measure each object accurately. Additionally, they learn to analyze data as they record their measurements and follow directions on the recording sheet. 

3 Decorate the Donut

• Materials: Decorating Donuts game mat, Donut Order cards, straw “sprinkles,” conversation hearts, felt heart “gummies”, pom pom “marshmallows,”  scissors, pencil
• Game mechanics: Players start the game by cutting a straw into five smaller pieces to create "sprinkles." Then, they select an order card. They can also make their own order cards using blank cards. Next, they decorate the donut on the game mat according to the order by placing the correct number of toppings onto the correct donut flavor. Parents and caregivers can engage children in questions like comparing the number of different toppings, counting the total number of toppings on the donut, and more. Once completed, they clear off the toppings and set the order card aside to repeat the process with another card.
• About the game: In this game, kids develop counting and number recognition skills as they decorate donuts according to order cards, placing the correct number of toppings on each. They learn to follow directions accurately while engaging in hands-on activities. This fosters their understanding of quantities and enhances their cognitive abilities. They also develop critical thinking and vocabulary as they answer questions given to them.

1 Delivering Valentine Letters

• Materials: Delivering Valentine Letters game mat, Delivering Valentine Letters spinner, spinner base, spinner arrow, 2 playing pieces
• Game mechanics: Players start the game by spinning the spinner. If it lands on a letter, they identify the letter and its sound, then move the mail carrier playing piece to the next spot on the game board with a picture matching the beginning sound of the letter spun. For example, if the letter "f" is spun, players find a picture that starts with the /fff/ sound, like "frog," and move their piece there. If the spinner lands on a calendar, players move the calendar piece closer to Valentine's Day. The game continues until either the mail carrier reaches the mailbox before Valentine's Day, resulting in a win, or Valentine's Day arrives before the mail carrier reaches the mailbox, prompting players to try again.
• About the game: Delivering Valentine Letters game can help kids enhance their alphabet knowledge and phonological awareness by identifying letters and their corresponding sounds. They practice recognizing beginning sounds in words as they match letters spun on a spinner with pictures on the game board. This activity strengthens their understanding of letter-sound relationships and helps build foundational literacy skills. Additionally, they develop critical thinking and decision-making skills as they strategize to move their playing piece towards the goal of reaching the mailbox before Valentine's Day on the calendar.

2 Cupid’s Rhyming Cove

• Materials: Cupid’s Rhyming Cove game mat, two Cupid’s Rhyming Cove player cards, foam hearts, die, 2 playing pieces
• Game mechanics: Each player selects a playing card and a playing piece at the beginning of the game. Then they place it on the game mat heart with "ski" pictured. Adults help by naming the words pictured on the game mat and the child's playing card. The youngest player starts by rolling the die and moving their piece clockwise accordingly. Upon landing on a spot, the player names the word pictured. If any words on their card rhyme with the landed word, they cover one with a foam heart. The first player to get three in a row on their card wins! 
• About the game: In this game, kids develop phonological awareness and rhyming skills as they identify and name words pictured on the game mat and their playing cards. By covering rhyming words with foam hearts, they reinforce their understanding of word similarities and patterns. Additionally, the game encourages turn-taking, fostering social skills and patience as players wait for their chance to roll the die and move their playing piece.

• Materials: Arctic Tens Frame game mat, seal number cards, ice pieces
• Game mechanics: Explore numbers with the Arctic Tens Frame Game! Using a special mat with ten spots, kids can learn counting by placing ice pieces on the mat according to the number shown on cards. There are two ways to play: building a quantity by counting out the ice pieces to match the number on the card, or guessing the number of ice pieces placed on the mat either by counting them one by one or just by looking (subitizing). 
• About the game: The Arctic Tens Frame game is designed to enhance children's counting abilities, number recognition, subitizing, and familiarity with tens frames. By using visual aids and hands-on manipulation of ice pieces on the game mat, kids develop a solid understanding of quantities represented by numerals. They learn to count efficiently and accurately while filling the tens frame with the correct number of ice pieces. 2 Polar Patterns

• Materials: Polar Patterns cards, polar animal mini erasers
• Game mechanics: Get ready for a chilly pattern challenge! In the Polar Patterns game, you'll pick a card with a pattern of cute polar animals. Point to each animal and say its name in a fun way (like changing the tone of your voice up and down for each polar animal). Then, pause and let your child think which animal comes next in the pattern. If they need help, you can tell them the answer. Finally, they'll pick the right animal and complete the pattern! The game has two levels: easier during the day (day/light background) and harder at night (night/dark background)!
• About the game: The Polar Patterns game helps kids develop essential skills such as recognizing patterns, critical thinking, and refining fine motor skills. As they identify and complete patterns of adorable polar animals, children enhance their pattern recognition abilities, which is very important for understanding mathematical concepts later on. Drop a gummy bear into each cup and wait at least four hours. Ask your little ones to watch closely and see what happens! • Materials: Below Zero Beginning Sounds cards, ice pieces
• Game mechanics: Get ready to help arctic animals move across icy waters while learning phonics! To start, spread out the Below Zero Beginning Sounds cards and ice pieces on a table. Pick a card randomly and say the word shown, emphasizing its beginning sound. For example, you choose the penguin card, and say 'This is a penguin. P-p-p-penguin. Penguin starts with the /p/ sound.' Then, find the letter that makes that sound. Place an ice piece on the correct letter. Say, 'Penguin starts with the /p/ sound. P says /p/. Let's put the ice piece on the letter P!' Keep matching sounds to letters until you've helped all the animals across the freezing waters!
• About the game: The Below Zero Beginning Sounds game helps kids develop literacy skills, including letter sounds, alphabet recognition, and phonological awareness. • Game mechanics: In this game, players rush to fill their witch’s cauldron first! Take turns rolling the die and quickly recognize the number of dots rolled without counting—it's called subitizing. Cover the matching number on your cauldron with a spooky item. If you don't have that number, don’t do anything. The first player to cover all their cauldron's numbers wins! It's all about speedy recognition and collecting the right spooky items to win the race!
• About the game: The Witches’ Brew develops multiple skills crucial for kids. Subitizing, or recognizing numbers without counting, sharpens their instant number recognition. It boosts numeral recognition as they match numbers on the die to those on their cauldron. Plus, it reinforces turn-taking, fostering patience and social skills. Counting comes into play if instant recognition isn’t possible, encouraging precise counting to progress!

2 Measuring Monsters

• Materials: Measuring Monsters game mat, Measuring Monsters number cards, skeleton bones

Count the bones to figure out the height and put a number card next to each monster to show how tall they are. Keep using the bones to measure all the monsters, and remember, you might not need all the number cards. Ask fun questions like who's the tallest, shortest, or how many bones tall a monster is, comparing their heights for a cool challenge!
• About the game: The Measuring Monsters game is a neat way for kids to learn measuring skills by using bones to measure the monsters' heights. They'll practice counting the bones to figure out how tall each monster is and match that to number cards. It's a cool way to boost their counting ability while getting better at recognizing numbers. • Materials: Feed Frankenstein game mat, Feed Frankenstein cards, Feed Frankenstein tracing card, monster eyes or skeleton bones, scissors, pencil
• Game mechanics: To start, make Frankenstein's mouth by cutting out a space on the game mat and folding it up. There are three fun ways to play! First, you can pick a card and find the letter that makes the starting sound of the object pictured, tracing it on a special card and feeding it to Frankenstein. Or, someone can give you a word broken into sounds, and you blend them together to guess the word and feed Frankenstein. Lastly, you can match rhyming words to feed Frankenstein too. 
• About the game: This game is all about learning sounds and words in a fun way with Frankenstein! Kids practice recognizing beginning sounds by tracing letters that match the starting sound of pictured objects. They also improve their blending skills by guessing words based on segmented sounds. Plus, they will get better at finding and recognizing rhyming words. It's a cool way to learn sounds, blend words, and discover rhymes with a spooky-fun twist!

2 Haunted House Hunt

• Game mechanics: In the game, you show a card with colorful apples to your child and say each color (better if you could change the tone of your voice for every color). Then, you pause when pointing at a blank apple for your child to figure out the missing color in the pattern. Your child then picks the right colored pom pom "apple" to fill in the empty spot on the card.
• About the game: The Apple Patterns game helps kids learn about colors and patterns. As they match colors and recognize patterns, they practice important skills for problem-solving and observation. It also encourages listening and following instructions, boosting their focus and attention.

2 Apple Pie Stand Sort

• Materials: Pick 'em All! game mat, 20 pom pom "apples", spinner arrow, spinner base
• Game mechanics: This game is about harvesting apples from an orchard and filling your buckets. To set up, you create a spinner first with the materials provided. Each player starts with ten pom pom "apples" on their tree. On your turn, you spin the spinner and move according to what it shows: collecting one, two, or three apples from your tree or losing one to an animal. If you lose an apple, it goes back from your bucket to the back of your tree. The aim is to fill your ten buckets from left to right, top to bottom, being the first to pick all ten apples and fill your buckets completely to win the game!
• About the game: The Pick 'em All! game helps kids practice counting and strategic thinking as they aim to fill their buckets with ten apples. Using tens frames helps them visualize numbers and understand quantity. They learn turn-taking, following directions from the spinner, and making choices based on the spinner's actions. Additionally, they develop patience and decision-making skills when choosing how many apples to pick or removing an apple “stolen” by the animal, fostering a mix of math, social, and cognitive abilities.

5 Easy Winter Crafts for Kids

1 Baby Winter Owl Scrape Art

Have you tried scrape art before? For our first winter craft, we will create an adorable baby owl art using a simple scrape art technique, perfect for kids to enjoy during the winter season. Prepare materials like black colored paper, white paint, disposable fork, other colored papers, scissors, markers, and glue.

• On the black colored paper, use the white paint to paint the owl. Create a big oval for the owl's body and a smaller one on top of it for the head. Next, use a disposable fork to scrape the excess paint on the edges to create feather textures.
• Allow the owl to dry. Meanwhile, create and cut out other features of the owl using scissors and colored paper. Use yellow and black colored paper for the eyes; brown for the small beak (you can also make a small tree branch with the brown colored paper); lastly, create cute little wings with leaf-like shapes using white bond paper or cardstock. Draw lines on it using a marker.  
• Once the paint has dried, assemble the cutouts on the owl. Glue the yellow circles for the eyes first, then the smaller black circles on top of it. Add a white dot on the black circle for its eyes. Next, glue the beak in place, as well as the wings on both sides. Glue the branch below the owl and draw its tiny baby owl feet on it.

2 Snowy Winter Scene Scrape Art

Bring in the Snowy Winter Scene indoors with this really cool art! All you need is blue colored paper, a scraper, white paint, and creativity!  

• Use a blue construction paper as your canvas to represent the winter sky. Using a paintbrush, let kids paint the paper with white paint to create a snowy backdrop. They can use streaks and dabs to mimic falling snowflakes. Use a scraper to scrape the white paint in different directions. Allow the kids to explore! 
• Let it dry. Lastly, decorate the snowy scene. Maybe some glitters for a sparkling effect, or snowflake stickers, cutouts, snowmen, and polar bears!

3 3D Polar Bear Craft

Create your very own fluffy polar bear with this 3D Polar Bear Craft! Your kids will surely have fun with this creative craft project and you can share some fun facts and trivia about polar bears, like “Do you know that polar bears’ skin is actually black?”. They will surely love to learn more about this fluffy giant friend while practicing their fine motor skills.

• Create the background first. Use paint on a cardstock. You can try blue or purple (or maybe both!) for the sky and add white dots or snowflakes. 
• Draw the polar bear's outline on white paper, then cut it out. Attach it to the background that you painted once it has dried.
• Add cotton balls to the polar bear’s body to make it three-dimensional (and fluffy!). Add more cotton balls for its face to make a protruding snout.
• Next, cut out two small black circles for the bear's eyes and a bigger circle for the nose. Glue them onto the polar bear's face. You can also use buttons or other available materials.

This delightful 3D polar bear craft activity allows kids to explore their artistic side and practice their fine motor skills while creating an adorable winter-themed craft.

4 Handprint Walrus Craft

Recycle those brown cardboard boxes into adorable walrus art! It’ll be more fun as kids use their own handprints to create the shape.

• Start by making handprints using brown cardboard and a pencil. Trace the child's hand onto it and carefully cut out two handprint shapes to create the walrus's body. Draw a triangle shape and cut it out too. Cut the edges and attach the two handprints behind it. 
• Next, cut out two oval shapes for the eyes and two horn shapes for the tusks. Use a lighter brown shade of construction paper for the snout. Assemble these on the brown triangle that serves as the walrus’s face. 
• Use black colored paper to add details like the walrus’s eyes and nose. Add dots of white paint on it to make it look more realistic! Use a black marker for other details like whiskers and some spots. 

Doing the Handprint Walrus Craft activity with your kids allows them to practice their fine motor movements and enhance their creativity as they use their handprints to make an adorable walrus art piece.

5 Bubble Wrap Penguin Art

Do you know that bubble wrap can be used to make art projects? This fun activity lets kids create a penguin artwork against a snowy background using bubble wrap and paint. 

• Cut a piece of blue construction paper to your desired size for the artwork. Apply white paint to the bubble wrap, covering it generously. Then, press the painted bubble wrap onto the white paper to create a snowy texture. Gently press and then lift the bubble wrap off to reveal the snowy pattern. Let it dry.
• Draw and cut out a penguin shape from the black construction paper, resembling a round head and oval body. 
• Next, attach the Penguin shape to the Snowy Background once it has dried up. Then, add penguin features like eyes, beak, flippers, and the white spot on its body. You can use different materials for these, like paint, cutout construction papers, and googly eyes. You can also provide different materials that your kids can use for this cool project!

This engaging craft allows kids to experiment with textures and create their own penguin artwork set against a snowy scene using bubble wrap and paint.

1 Paper Plate Turkey Craft

Got unused paper plates at home? Turn these into a stunning Paper Plate Turkey Craft! Using a simple paper plate, vibrant paints, colorful papers, cardboard, and googly eyes, your kids can design a majestic turkey bursting with color by doing these 4 easy steps:

• First, assist your child in painting the paper plate with brown paint. This will be the turkey’s body. 
• Then, cut out colored papers for the turkey’s wings and tail. You can use orange, yellow, and red colored paper for this. Attach these cutouts to the painted paper plate.
• Draw an outline of the turkey’s head, neck, and feet on a cardboard. Cut these out and attach them in their correct position on the paper plate.
• Complete your Paper Plate Turkey Craft by adding a beak, eye, and snood!  

This hands-on craft encourages creativity and fine motor skills as children paint, cut, and assemble the peacock's vibrant feathers.

2 Thanksgiving Paper Bag Craft

Instead of throwing away your paper bags from grocery shopping, turn them into a wonderful Thanksgiving Paper Bag Craft. This eco-friendly craft is a great way to teach children about the importance of recycling and reusing resources this Thanksgiving! All you need is a brown paper bag, colored paper, some glue and scissors, and a pair of googly eyes.

• Flatten the brown bag first. Fold the bottom part as this will be the turkey’s face.
• For the turkey’s tail, cut out long leaf-like shapes using red, orange, and yellow colored papers. Attach them behind the folded bottom part of the paper bag.
• Cut out a yellow triangle for its beak, a light yellow oval for its body, a red snood, and brown turkey feet.
• Attach them all to the brown paper bag and add the googly eyes to complete your Thanksgiving Paper Bag Craft!

You can also ask your little ones to write things they are thankful for in the turkey's feathers and tail! 3 Spoon and Snood Craft

Don't throw away those wooden ice cream spoons! Transform them into charming crafts by just adding colored papers and googly eyes. Just follow these steps:

• Prepare the materials like colored papers (red, yellow, orange, black, brown), googly eyes, scissors, and hot glue sticks.
• Cut out strips of red, yellow, and orange paper for the turkey’s tail. Draw and cut out other parts like a red snood, an orange beak, a brown body, orange strips for the legs, yellow feet, and a black hat.  
• Using a hot glue gun, assemble the turkey on the wooden ice cream spoon, just like in the picture. Now your Spoon and Snood Craft is complete!

4 Hanging Tissue Roll Turkey Project

Aside from paper plates, paper bags, and wooden ice cream spoons, we can also make use of empty tissue cores into another yet adorable recycled turkey craft! This Hanging Tissue Roll Turkey Project is a fun way to develop creativity among preschoolers, as they make their own turkeys using empty tissue core, colored tissue papers or crepe papers, feathers, colored papers, googly eyes, and a string!

• Cover the empty tissue core using dark brown colored paper. 
• Next, attach the colored tissue paper or crepe paper to the feathers. 
• Insert the feathers inside the empty tissue core and pull them out on the other side. You can also use hot glue to secure them inside.
• Attach the string on one end of the tissue core.
• Decorate the turkey’s face by adding the googly eyes, and colored paper cutouts of a beak and snood. 

These colorful turkeys are delightful window or porch decorations, adding a warm and festive touch to your Thanksgiving celebrations!

Just follow these steps to make your own yarn-wrapped turkey craft:

• Paint the background in warm, autumn hues to set the scene. You can use yellow and orange paint for this. Kids can also fingerpaint for more fun!

First, ask your child to identify each helper and talk about what they do. Then, discuss their clothes, tools, and where they work. Next, pick a card, describe what's on it, and match it to the right helper. Keep going until all the cards are sorted correctly. It's a fun way to learn about community helpers and what they do!
• About the game: In this game, children learn about the roles of community helpers and develop essential skills such as classifying, grouping, categorizing, and sorting. By matching job-related items to the correct community helper, they enhance their problem-solving abilities and critical thinking. 2 Which Hose is the Right Length?

• Materials: Which Hose is the Right Length? cards, firefighter hose number cards, blue "water" chips
• Game mechanics: In the Which Hose is the Right Length game, kids practice their measuring and counting skills while helping firefighters choose the correct hose to put out fires. First, they randomly select a Which Hose is the Right Length? Card. Then, they will measure the hose's length starting from the fire hydrant, and use blue "water" chips to mark the hose's path to the nozzle. By counting how many chips they've used, they find the firefighter hose number card with the matching number and place it next to the Which Hose is the Right Length? card. This continues until all cards are matched with the right hose.
• About the game: In this game, children get to practice and develop their measuring and counting skills by determining the correct hose length to extinguish fires. They also develop numeral identification abilities by matching the counted "water" chips to corresponding numeral cards. This engaging activity not only reinforces mathematical concepts but also encourages problem-solving and critical thinking as kids try to select the right hose for each firefighting scenario.

• Materials: Police Dog Match cards
• Game mechanics: In the Police Dog Match game, kids will use their rhyming skills to pair police officers with their matching police dogs. They split the cards into two groups: one with police officers and one with dogs. Then, they pick a police officer card, name the word on the uniform, and emphasize the ending sound (e.g. "cone"). The challenge is to find the police dog card on the table with a word that rhymes with it (e.g. "bone"). By matching rhyming words, children strengthen their phonics and language skills through this fun matching game.
• About the game: Children can practice their rhyming abilities and phonological awareness in this Police Dog Match cards game as they connect police officers with their rhyming police dogs. By identifying and matching words with the same ending sounds, kids strengthen their understanding of rhymes and enhance their language skills, which are crucial for early literacy development. 

2 Put Out the Fires

• Materials: Put Out the Fires game mat, Put Out the Fires cards, blue "water" chips
• Game mechanics: In the Put Out the Fires game, children help firefighters put out fires using letters. They can play at different levels of difficulty. For a more challenging version, kids choose cards without seeing them, and adults say the letter sounds. Your child finds the letter on the game mat that makes that sound, names it, and covers it with a "water" chip to "put out" the fire. In an easier version, the child randomly selects a card, and with help from a parent or guardian, then names the letter on the card, and covers the matching letter on the game mat with a "water" chip. This is such a fun way for kids to learn about letters and their sounds!
• About the game: Children learn letter identification and letter sounds while practicing matching skills in the Put Out the Fires game. They enhance their ability to recognize letters and their corresponding sounds, crucial for early reading. Additionally, the game helps them work on their fine motor skills as they handle "water" chips to cover the matching letters, making it an engaging way for kids to develop both literacy and coordination abilities.

3 Fill the Trucks

• Materials: Fill the Trucks game mat, Fill the Trucks cards, construction bricks
• Game mechanics: Through the Fill the Trucks game, children practice the important reading skill of blending sounds to create words while filling construction vehicles with bricks. You give your child word sounds, like "c-a-t" for "cat" or "f-i-re" for "fire," and the child combines these sounds to say the word. Then, they randomly choose a card, listen to the sounds on it, blend them to form the word, and find the matching picture on their game mat to cover it with a construction brick.

Through the use of stamps, your kids will work on fine motor, focusing, and creative skills. Start by cutting juicy apples in half, then dip each half in red, green, or colorful paint! Next, press them onto a white paper for awesome apple prints. Wait for the paint to dry and glue the seeds in it. And guess what? As you munch apples with your kids, you can chat about and show them what the apple core looks like – a super fun conversation starter! Now, invite them to work on a cute Apple Core Craft. In each circle, write a letter from your little one's name. Put it all together by arranging those circles to spell your kiddo's name while making the worm come to life. It's like a name puzzle, but way more colorful and exciting!

• Materials: World's Strongest Man Match cards
• Game mechanics: Engage in the strength show with the World's Strongest Man matching game and explore letter sounds! Split the cards into two groups: one with letters and another with pictures. Choose a letter card, like "B," and tell your child its sound, "/b/." Ask them to find a picture that begins with the same sound. For instance, does "monkey" start with the /b/ sound? No, but "balloons" does! Put together the matching cards to complete the picture, making learning about letter sounds exciting and interactive.
• About the game: This game helps develop vital skills such as letter recognition, understanding letter sounds, and identifying the beginning sounds of words. Through engaging in matching activities, children will strengthen their ability to associate letters with their sounds and to identify words that share the same initial sound. 2 Tickets, Please!

• Materials: Tickets game mats, ticket cards, scissors
• Game mechanics: Prepare for the big show at the ticket booths! Discover syllables as you decide which booth to hand your ticket to. Cut slots on the Tickets game mats for ticket collection. Fold the flaps to stand up the 3 booths. Identify 1, 2, and 3 syllable booths. Pick a ticket card, like "magician." Break the word into syllables, clapping for each [(ma- (clap) -gi- (clap) -cian (clap)]. Your child repeats and raises fingers for each clap. Count the syllables based on fingers raised (3 for "magician"). Then, slip the card into the matching booth. Continue until you have sorted all the tickets! 
• About the game: The Tickets, Please! The game offers an engaging way for kids to develop phonological awareness by learning to segment words into syllables through clapping. They will also make use of their counting and sorting abilities as they identify the number of syllables and place the ticket cards in the correct booths. 3 Traveling Circus Board Game

• Materials: Traveling Circus game mat, circus erasers, two playing pieces, spinner arrow, spinner base

Make your own All About My Teacher Coloring Card in 4 easy steps!

Step 1 Download and print the All About My Teacher Coloring Card. Make sure to print it on both sides of the paper.

Step 2 Fold the printed template in half, matching the edges carefully. Press along the folded line to create a neat crease. Open the card and find the front cover. Use your favorite coloring tools like crayons, colored pencils, or markers to add color. 

Step 3 With the cover done, let’s now work on the inside of the card! There are different parts to fill out about your child’s teacher like the things she always say, things she taught the kids, and her age. • Materials: Race to Liberty Island game mat, Liberty Island Player Cards, die, 2 playing pieces, pom pom "fireworks"
• Game mechanics: In this cooperative game, you and your partner work together to collect all the fireworks for Liberty Island. If even one player arrives without all the fireworks, the mission fails, and you must try again. Each player starts with a Player Card and places their playing piece on the start. Roll the die on your turn and move your piece accordingly. Follow the instructions on the space you land on. To win, both players must reach the end of the dock and reach Liberty Island with all the fireworks on their Player Cards. If one player reaches Liberty Island without all the fireworks, try again. Work together and have fun!
• About the game: This cooperative game teaches kids about teamwork, cooperation, and strategic thinking as they work together to collect all the fireworks for Liberty Island. They will also develop counting and movement skills by rolling the die and moving their playing pieces on the board. The game encourages problem-solving as they navigate through the spaces and follow the instructions. Additionally, it reinforces the concept of achieving a goal together and the importance of persistence in trying again if they don't succeed on the first attempt!

3 Fill the Flag

• Materials: Fill the Flag game mat, Fill the Flag cards, and wooden stars
• Game mechanics: In this game, we'll use the American flag as a ten frame with two rows of five stars. First, randomly pick a card and look at the number on it. Then, count and place that number of wooden stars on the ten-frame flag, starting from the top left and moving left to right. You can trace the number on the card with your finger and show it with your fingers too. For example, if the card shows 7, count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 stars and put them on the flag just like the number on the card. It's a fun way to learn numbers and practice counting!
• About the game: The Fill the Flag game is a great activity for kids to develop essential math and cognitive skills. They will be able to practice counting and number recognition as they identify the numbers on the cards and count the corresponding stars to place on the ten-frame flag. By tracing the numbers and using their fingers to represent the numbers, they reinforce the visual and tactile understanding of each numeral. Each row of the worksheet presents a sequence of pictures with a missing image at the end. To complete the pattern, children must identify what comes next in the sequence. They have to cut out the correct picture from the options provided and then paste it in the empty space to continue the pattern successfully. This activity enhances their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities and also fosters fine motor skills through cutting and pasting. As they engage with Picnic Patterns, kids will learn to identify and create different types of patterns, such as color, shape, or size patterns, thus building a strong foundation for more advanced math concepts in the future.

3 Poolside Measuring

They should line up the beach balls from one end of the object to the other and count how many beach balls it takes to measure the length accurately. They can then write down the measurement or the number of beach balls used beside each object.
